NEW NUMBER OF SCHOOL LIST "DESANKA`S GROUP"

At the St. Sava's ceremony, which was held on January 27 in the elementary school "Desanka Maksimovic" in Cokot, the 24th number of school magazine "Desanka`s group " was promoted. This school newsletter, edited by prof.Mile Penkov with school students, has been published for twelve years. The school newspaper is printed on 22 pages and contains the most important information from the work of educational institutions recorded and shaped by the students of the school.

Elementary school "Desanka Maksimovic" in Cokot, territory of Palilula, is one of the largest primary schools in the City of Nis. Established in 1922, as four year school called "Elementary School Čokot of Kingdom of SHS", and the first teacher was Ljubica Djordjevic started teaching in a private building of Aksentije Lazic, later (1953) grew into an eight-year and changed its name to "Elementary School 29.novembar in ČOKOT ". In 2002 this school was named "Desanka Maksimovic:" after the famous Serbian poet. In addition to the main school in Cokot village, educational process takes place in eight detached departments of the school in neighboring settlements (settlement "9 maj", Lalinac, Donje Medjurovo, Gornje Međurovo, Mramor, Krušce, Mramorski Potok and Bubanj).

This school has 871 students (in 48 classes), and of that number in the lower grades are 457, and 414 are older students. Eighth-grade classes was implemented in Cokot settlement "9 Maj", while other regional departments of the school she performed in a comprehensive and combined classes. The school employs 102 workers, of which 77 teachers. Acting Director at the moment of the school is Miljan Bojanic.
